The seventh life orientation programme (LOP), a ‘Career Fair cum Placement Drive’ was organised in Salesian College campus, Siliguri on Monday 13 March 2018. Open invitation was given to students of the neighbouring colleges besides students of the college. The programme began at 9:30 am with an inaugural prayer and opening words by Fr. Dr George Chempakathinal, Vice Principal. Mr. Peter Lepcha, Campus Coordinator addressed everyone highlighting the importance of such a programme.

The sixteen different institutions of higher learning, reputed coaching centres and corporates met the students in batches in the different halls and kiosks. The information desks placed in the campus by the different groups gave an opportunity for every students to meet the company or group of their interest for clarifications and more information. A student said: “ very enlightening and a learning experience for career goals”. Further, three companies had come to recruit candidates, namely: Indigo Airlines, Wealth Management House, Gold´s Gym. Some of the students got shortlisted/selected while others found it as a training experience for further opportunities.
Post lunch, a feedback session was held in the AV Hall for the participating institutions. It was a platform for mutual appreciation and suggestions for better collaboration. The day ended with the guest institutions appreciating the hospitality of the College. The Campus Coordinator, Mr. Peter thanked everyone for their presence and the support that they gave for students’ progression in higher education and proper job placement.
